The goal of this workshop is to examine how EMDR therapy and cultural considerations can work together, giving mental health professionals invaluable knowledge to improve their work. Participants will learn how cultural factors can affect trauma processing and healing through this workshop. They will also explore creative ways to adapt EMDR techniques to various cultural contexts when working with diverse populations, ensuring a secure and welcoming therapeutic environment.

Learning Objectives

1.  Develop culturally sensitive EMDR awareness to effectively address trauma in diverse populations.
2.  Identify at least one culturally appropriate strategy while using EMDR Therapy.
3.  Enhance therapist cultural competence in delivering EMDR protocols.
4.  Promote Awareness and Accessibility of Culturally Adapted EMDR therapy.

Liliana Baylon

LMFT-S, RPT-S

Liliana Baylon, LMFT-S, RPT-S has a master’s degree in counseling & Marriage, Family, & Child Therapy as well as an MBA from University of Phoenix in Colorado. Since entering the therapy field, Liliana has developed an interest and niche in treating children and families who have experienced trauma, and multicultural issues from an attachment lens. To better treat these populations, Liliana has received training in different modalities, some of which she is a trained educator. Liliana is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, EMDRIA Approved Consultant, Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, Synergetic Play Therapy Consultant, EFT Supervisor, EMDR Certified, TheraPlay Level 1, Independent Facilitator of the Becoming a Love and Logic Parent Curriculum, Bring Baby Home Gottman Trained Educator, Gottman Seven Principles Program Educator, Completed Level 2 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Liliana brings a unique cultural lens into her therapy and supervision sessions. Alex Castro-Croy

LPC, LAC

Alex Castro-Croy, LPC, LAC, is currently the Clinical Director/Owner of Life Recovery Center in Northglenn and Denver, Colorado. He offers bilingual addiction/ Mental health services to system involved adult and youth in the Denver Metro Area. In his private practice (Community Counseling and Consulting Services), he does consulting work for other agencies in Spanish and English (MRT/SRT/DUI-DWC & Change companies/EMDR/Anger Management). In addition to Clinical Supervision for CAC I and CAC II counselors seeking their CACIII. Castro-Croy also has his Masters degree in Community Counseling from Regis University and Currently a Ph.D. Candidate at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Depth Psychology with an Emphasis in Jungian and Archetypal studies. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Addiction Counselor in the State of Colorado. Alex is an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant.

Approvals:  2  hours of CE credit provided by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) and 2 hours of credit from EMDRIA (#15013-DL25.)

Requirements to obtain CE:  Watch entire webinar recording; complete course evaluation & posttest. 

Posttest: Obtain an 80% minimum score. You can retake the test as needed to achieve a qualifying score.

Evaluation: At the completion of the webinar a course evaluation will be available for completion.

Certificate award process:  A certificate of completion will be provided by EMDR of the Rockies. The certificate will be available for immediate download.
